Wagyu are a Beef cattle introduced to Japan in the 2nd Century, they are renowned for tenderness and marbling in the meat and have low birth rates of 30-40kg a calf. Wagyu is healthier than commercial beef and has a higher content of monosaturated fatty acids and lower melting point than butter.
Most of our cows are naturally mated with on farm Wagyu bulls apart from our herd replacement heifers that we use sexed semen to produce. This way we rear all our own replacements on farm ourselves to give them the best possible start and all the remaining calves are part of the Wagyu beef programme. Therefore we don't produce bobby calves on our farm and havent done so for the past three years.
